Bleeds

When you want an object to go right to the edge of the final printed piece you will need to add a bleed to it. A bleed will extend objects off of the print area to ensure that when the printed piece is trimmed, the ink coverage will go to the edge of the paper.

Typical bleeds that we use on our presses are 1/8"(.125") for sheetfed jobs and 1/4"(.25") bleed for web press jobs.

Below is an example of how to set up your bleed area for our Web press.
If a bleed is wanted you extend the object(s) in the image area to 0.25" past the trim size, this will ensure that the ink coverage goes right to the edge of the paper. The remainder of the bleed gets trimmed off.
